2 months old!

Lucas is 2 months old today. He is quite a cutie! He changes every day - he coos and smiles so much more now. He recognizes us and still LOVES to be held and cuddled, we dont mind though since these days will be gone before we know it and he'll want to run and be all independent.

Lucas had his 2 months doctor's appointment today. He weighs 12lbs 14 oz and measures 25 inches long (according to Dr. Hanson thats considered pretty long for his age). Poor baby had shots and oh my...he cried like never before. The nurse said to just entertain him and try to hold his hands; Lucas was all smiles and happy...and then it happened...poke once...poke twice...poke for the third time. I so wanted to give her my legs to poke instead of his...He cried so hard and so loud, it was truly hearbreaking. I felt so bad...like I totally fooled him by encouraging him to smile and all, and then he had all this pain. After some time and some food, he calmed down and fell asleep for awhile. Scientists should come up with vaccines in the form of candy...hmmm, there is a thought!

1 month old!!!

We can't belive our baby is already a month old!!! We feel like it was only yesterday we brought him home...time flies. Life has definitely changed for the best. It's tiring at times, but so rewarding and special.

We watched video from the hospital and first few days at home - Lucas has changed so much since then already! We love you, sweet boy, and thank God for letting us take care of you and love you.

About me this month:
- I weigh 10 lbs, 1 oz and measure 21.5 inches (as of 4.10.2009). Doctor loves my cheeks and says I am a healthy boy.
- I LOVE to be held, cuddled, talked to, rocked, snuggled, kissed and anything that involves being with mom and dad
- I am starting to coo
- I can hold my head for a minute, sometimes more
- I chew on my fingers to help me sleep
- I dont like tummy time, but Daddy says we should count me hanging out on his tummy as my tummy time :)
- I eat pretty regularly and get upset when not fed on time
- I sleep during the day and play late at night and early morning
- I like to look around and can follow a toy
- I am discovering my fingers
- I enjoy rocking in my cool swing
- I can only go to sleep when daddy pats my back and puts me on his stomach or when mom holds me tight, rocks me and hums a lullaby
- I can ONLY sleep with mom and dad (sleeping in the crib is overrated)
- I have been out several times already: I enjoy the car ride but not the car seat, I like being in the stroller but it does not help whem I am hungry, so mom has to get me out of it, hold me and feed me and then I am all better. Daddy wants to throw away the car seat and just carry me around :) ha! I agree, but Mom says 'over her dead body.'

Enough for now - tune in for more updates next month.

Here are some recent pictures for all to enjoy!

Daddy gave me my first bottle of breast milk! I loved it and chomped it down in seconds :)

Aunt Anita came to visit me! She spoiled me with lots of holding, smiling and talking (as well as cute outfits) - I miss her terribly and so does my mom. Come back soon!

Kimberly came all the way from Michigan to hang out with Anita, mom and visit the school with her cousins. You are so fun to be around - come visit us more often.

We went to Galena with Anita and Kimberly. It was fun! (though I am not a fan of my carseat - I scream when I have to get strapped in, so I need my binky to calm down).

hanging out at home with Mom and taking silly pictures like this one :)

I am liking my swing! (finally)

This is what we do when daddy gets home from work

I love my Dad!

Just counting the days...

February 24, 2009 - Week 38! ( i cant believe I'm posting this!)

I think this was week 35...

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I know I haven't really posted anything lately...no good excuses, though there are a few...

Summary of life at the Locklears:

-Week 37 of pregnancy
- baby is growing! Last week the weight was 6lbs 11oz, according to the ultrasound and all the measurements
-mama (thats me) can't wait to see the baby, though is very nervous about the event - this waiting time is difficult!
-daddy (thats Everette) is losing his mind creating lesson plans for student teaching and is very excited to meet the baby. He is doing more breathing exercises than I do.
- Im still working, though not as much - my mobility is very limited these days.
- we have washed and ironed oodles of onesies, shirts, pants, sleepers, hats, receiving blankets this past weekend. They are some what neatly organized in baby's new furniture lovingly given to us by a friend and colleague of mine.
- nothing tastes good anymore. I love to cook and cook every other day if not everyday (it tastes better and it saves money!), but these days NOTHING sounds good. I want something and I dont know what it is I want. I dont have cravings, I just have screwed up taste buds...so, yesterday I went to the grocery store and end up with this in my cart: hot dogs, canned beef ravioli, processed American cheese, bagels, single serving tub of chocolate-fudge ice-cream (thank goodness at the last moment i exercised some self-control and got a single serving instead of a gallon like i was going to get). And I wanted to eat it all at together, like mixed in a big bowl and using big spoon. Hello!?! Nothing wrong with these foods, but I never buy them or eat them, so, this was weird. Thankfully, I had to go to work in the afternoon, and I spared my stomach from crazy concoction.
- I am still waiting for that nesting syndrome to kick in - that would really help our place look better. They say you start cleaning like crazy..hmm...hmm Cant wait for that!
- we went to some baby classes, which was fun and very educational. I always laugh when I watch men in these classes, especially when we watch videos of birth, breastfeeding, etc..

This is it in a nutshell. Hope you all have a good rest of the week!

Week 34...6 more to go..or less :)

This is what I got today in my daily What to Expect emails - it made me chuckle :) Enjoy.

"Week 34: A Rising Doughboy (or Girl)
Your baby could be as tall as 20 inches right now and about five pounds. Need a visual? Hold a five-pound bag of flour in your arms and imagine it's your soon-to-be-born baby (cradle it, and you'll only get strange looks in the baking aisle). Then stack three such bags one on top of the other (and get ready for some more strange looks, maybe from the same clerks who saw you grinning and holding that one-pound box of sugar a few weeks ago). That's how tall your baby is now. (Now go bake some oatmeal raisin cookies with all that flour!)
Your baby's fingernails now reach the end of the fingertips and may even curl over the tip, making a manicure one of the first things you'll need to do for your little bundle. "

Had a doc's appointment today (Jan.27, 2009) and another NST (non-stress test). Everything is looking good. Got to hear baby's heart beat for 20 minutes - love it! The nurse I had was a bit on a reserved side, but treated me like royalty, placing pillow behind my back, offering juice and such. She said they delivered 7 babies last night! How cool! I didnt get to see any of them through the nursery window - darn :( Nurse, Lori, from last week saw me walking on the floor and cheerfully greeted me as if we know each other for ages. That felt good - she made me feel really comfortable. Lori is quite a talker, last time she wouldn't let me watch Obama swearing in - she kept talking, and talking, and talking :) But I hope I have her when the baby comes, she has that motherly touch and is very laid back.
Though I am very uncomfortable, as far as sitting, laying down, walking and other basic functions we take for granted, I enjoy being pregnant. But now that the D-day is closer, I am getting way too excited to see this child. Sometimes at night, while hanging out at home, I get this overwhelming feeling of wanting to see the baby, especially when the baby is very active. So, I say, "Everette, I am ready - lets go to the hospital." He just laughs.
